How to make jam!
This week in Literacy, the children explored instructional texts by extending their reading and applying their understanding in a practical task. They researched a recipe for strawberry jam, read and followed the instructions, and then created their own instructional materials aimed at younger children.
Using a variety of mixed media, the children produced an impressive range of presentations. Some created colourful posters, while others designed digital materials using JiT and Book Creator. We selected jam-making as our focus because our topic this term is Our Local Area. As part of our study of the local mill, we discovered that workers were once known for bringing bread and jam sandwiches for their lunch.
All of the children presented their instructional work with confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm. A fantastic effort from everyone—well done!
